Yogi Adityanath inaugurates BrahMos Missile Facility in Lucknow, boosting India's defence capabilities. Learn about Operation Sindoor, missile production, and India's stance against terrorism
A Major Boost to India’s Defence Capabilities
In a landmark event for India’s defence sector, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the BrahMos Missile Production Facility in Lucknow today. This state-of-the-art facility, built at a cost of ₹300 crore, is set to manufacture 80 to 100 BrahMos missiles annually, significantly strengthening India’s military arsenal.

A Strategic Move for Defence Manufacturing
The newly inaugurated facility is part of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor, an initiative aimed at making India self-reliant in defence production. One of the fastest supersonic cruise missiles in the world, the BrahMos missile was created by BrahMos Aerospace, a joint venture between Russia‘s NPO Mashinostroyeniya and India’s DRDO. It can achieve Mach 2.8 and has a range of 290 to 400 km.
Operation Sindoor: BrahMos in Action
During the inauguration, CM Yogi Adityanath highlighted the recent use of BrahMos missiles in Operation Sindoor, a covert military action targeting terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. He stated, “If someone failed to notice the power of BrahMos, they can ask Pakistan about its impact.” This operation successfully targeted nine terror camps, reinforcing India’s stance against terrorism.
India’s Message to the World
Yogi Adityanath stressed throughout his speech that terrorism must be dealt with decisively. He reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stance that any act of terrorism will now be considered an act of war. He further stated, “Terrorism can never understand the language of love. It must be answered in its own language.”
Advanced Missile Production & Future Plans
An Aerospace Integration and Testing Center is another feature of the BrahMos plant. It will produce 100 to 150 next-generation BrahMos missiles a year. Because these improved missiles would weigh less, fighter jets like the Sukhoi will be able to carry up to three missiles rather than just one.
Additionally, the Titanium and Super Alloys Materials Plant was inaugurated alongside the missile facility. This plant will produce high-quality materials for aerospace and defence, further boosting India’s indigenous defence capabilities.
Uttar Pradesh: A Defence Manufacturing Hub
The Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor, spanning six nodes – Lucknow, Kanpur, Aligarh, Agra, Jhansi, and Chitrakoot is attracting substantial defence investments. Uttar Pradesh is now the second state after Tamil Nadu to host such a corridor, reinforcing its role in national defence production.
Conclusion
An important turning point in India’s defense industrial history has been reached with the opening of the BrahMos Missile Facility. With cutting-edge technology, strategic investments, and a firm stance against terrorism, India is poised to strengthen its military capabilities and send a clear message to adversaries.
