IAF confirms Shivangi Singh is safe and active, debunking viral capture rumors.
In a strong and clear statement, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has confirmed that Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh is safe, active, and currently serving in Operation Sindoor. This announcement comes after several misleading social media posts falsely claimed that she had been captured during the recent conflict. The IAF has slammed these rumors and urged the public not to believe or spread fake news.
Who Is Shivangi Singh?
Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh is India’s first woman pilot to fly the Rafale fighter jet. She joined the Indian Air Force in 2017 and quickly rose to fame for her skill and courage. Before flying Rafale, she operated the MiG-21 Bison aircraft. Shivangi hails from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and has become a symbol of strength and inspiration for many young Indians, especially women who dream of joining the armed forces.
During Operation Sindoor, a recent military operation involving India and Pakistan—Shivangi played an important role. Her presence in the mission made her a target of false claims and propaganda, especially on social media platforms.
The Viral Video That Sparked Confusion
The confusion began when a video went viral showing Air Chief Marshal AP Singh visiting a grieving family. Many social media users, especially from Pakistan, claimed that the video showed the Air Chief visiting Shivangi Singh’s family after she had allegedly gone missing in action.
However, fact-checkers and official sources quickly debunked this claim. The video actually showed the Air Chief visiting the family of Sergeant Surendra Kumar, who died during Operation Sindoor in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. The visit was a tribute to the fallen soldier, not a condolence for Shivangi Singh.
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) also issued a fact-check, confirming that Shivangi Singh is not missing and continues to serve actively in the Indian Air Force.
Fake News and Propaganda
The Indian Air Force strongly condemned the spread of false information. In a public statement, they said, “Squadron Leader Shivangi remains deployed and is performing her operational duties.” They also warned that such fake news can harm morale and mislead the public during sensitive times.
Experts believe that the viral video and rumours were part of a propaganda campaign aimed at confusing people and creating panic. During conflicts, misinformation often spreads quickly, especially on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and WhatsApp.
The IAF and PIB have urged citizens to verify news before sharing it. They also reminded everyone that spreading false information, especially about national security and defense personnel, is a serious offense.
Shivangi Singh – A Hero Still on Duty
Despite the rumours, Shivangi Singh continues to serve with honour and dedication. Her role in Operation Sindoor has been praised by senior officials, and she remains one of the most respected pilots in the Indian Air Force.
This incident has reminded the nation of the importance of truth, responsibility, and respect for those who serve. Shivangi’s story is not just about bravery in the skies—it’s also about standing strong against lies and misinformation. As India continues to defend its borders and protect its people, heroes like Shivangi Singh inspire us to stay united, stay informed, and stay proud.
